Mental Health vs. Mental Illness: What is the Difference?
Mental health is about your overall emotional, psychological, and social well-being - everyone has it, and it exists on a continuum. Mental illness refers to specific diagnosable conditions like depression, anxiety disorders, or schizophrenia that disrupt thinking, mood, or behavior and often require professional treatment. Think of it this way: mental health is like physical fitness, while mental illness is like a medical condition. You can have poor mental health without having a mental illness, and you can live with a mental illness while still maintaining good mental health through support and care.
